today I found a tree but it's too big to fit in a home so strange and empty now there's only one set of tracks in the snow
you said that all you knew was wild and old "so let it grow"
then hatchet left hand, got buried instead
a frame's no better than a fence or a wall - like firewood in fall does the memory decay or do you lock it away?
I'll stay always like a present you left under the tree
if my arms made wings would you come back to me?
I miss your rosy nose, your golden glow when you grab hold
oh more than you know I never got cold
no ornaments and no lights to show what two could own
and now we're alone
remember those long nights at the end, December knows what they meant
I feel like I could lie in these woods forever in ice
it doesn't die it waits and wakes together
tonight wrapped in white I will fall asleep and I'll dream that I'll see you under the Christmas tree
